I am posting this to get any info about any paint problems people may have had.

My06 525i I have had for 2 weeks has paint problems.

The paint is chipping and I have found many whitish spots on the paint. The dealer has seen it and I have an appointment with a paint specialist on tuesday.

I have contacted BMW NA and they want me to let the dealer figure it out.

I have heard of many people having similar problems with paint.

Please reply with your info if you can help.

Thanks, Billysunshine

Wait when you say white spots do you mean like a "hole" down to the white under coat, like a chunk is missing... missing clear coat and missing paint?

or is it just like its very thin paint under the clear coat and its showing whitish (the undercoat)?

I have like 2 of those "holes" that goes down to the under coat where you feel it, theres an actual hole!

Let me go get a picture! Be back!

Here are my paint problems.

This one is on the drivers side rear door

This one is on the drivers side hood, towards the bottom of the front windscreen

And no these are not paint chips and I highly doubt I or anyone else was able to create this kind of damage... theres no dent or anything the panal and body parts are perfect but just this missing paint hole... it almost seems like there was an air bubble under the paint and it like "popped"

Never knew BMW paint had such problems. My personal experience was that BMW paint is awesome. 2 days ago some kid threw a pin-pong ball size rock from his dorm room windown and struck the hood of my car, got out to check but realized that there is no problem. Didn't bother finding that idiot....

The spots are whitish and appear under the clearcoat. Some have a little texture to them. I used my fingernail to scratch one and it chipped off to the primer.

I will keep you posted on what happens.

Thanks, for the info
I can't post pics because the spots are to small to show up.

I'm in too. Have the same problems. But I'm from Europe. But in case you will need some pictures and car codes in case of some law suit or some other evidence against BMW let me know

Send me a description of the problem(what where when)
car description, year, color, when purchased, etc.

I have gotten other responses from other forums.

I have a meeting tomorrow (tuesday) to try to resolve the issue. I am demanding a new car.

I don't believe anyone should have these issues with a car of this caliber.

Thanks for the info.

I noticed a small chip in the hood and similar size to the picture that has been posted. I thought it was caused by a stone.....but now I am wondering Infact, I got some touch up paint to cover it up. Now, I have to keep a closer look for more chips. I will do this weekend when I wash the car. Thanks for the headsup.

Can you link those reponses? I'm interested to see what they have to say.

See thats what they "look" like. I do have one chip right above the clear bra thats an actual paint chip caused by rocks or debrse on the road. Its not as "deep" these two are really deep "chips" and the location of them is not possible to get hit by a rock with enough force to make a chip that perfectlly round and deep. ESPECIALLY the chip on the inner top edge of the hood, no way is a rock on the highway going backwards to hit that spot.
