BSD Issue - Possible Water pump?

Hi all,

I recently started having an issue with the BSD line and wanted to see your thoughts. The car is a 2010 E60 535i.

Couple of days ago I went to check my oil level in i-drive and noticed that it said that the oil level reading is inactive. So I started looking into the issue. Went through the BSD troubleshooting by unplugging each BSD component one by one - IBS, Alternator, Oil level sensor and waterpump. When I unplugged the waterpump, cleared the codes, the code did not appear again. I plugged the waterpump back in and everything was working normal. The oil level was active again and the waterpump did not run constantly. So I figured it must've been a bad connection at the waterpump.

A day later the issue came back. Is it possible that the waterpump electronics are on their way out? Like I said, when I disconnected the waterpump and plugged it back in it was all good.

I'll go under again today to clean the plug really good and see if that helps.

Thank you.

Possible. Good debugging....divide and conquer.

So, your vehicle did not throw any relevant DTCs?

It did - the code was 002e7c - BSD Data Bus Communications Fault.
