Broken spring

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny.
2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter.
Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.
It has never happened to me. How did it break? Were you trackin' the car or did you hit a major pothole?

this happened to me with my e46, mine broke very close to the bottom of the coil and I didn't even notice until I installed my H&R springs and was told it had broke. The break in mine was because of corrosion.

Driving slowly over speed bump, i think it must have weakened over time.
