What if during the break-in period you take a 1500 mile trip? Is this advisable?

You are supposed to drive the car. Just take it easy for the first 200 miles, then vary your RPMs and keep them below 4500 for the next 800 miles. The Avitar on the left is taken on the autobahn the day after I took delivery. in 6th gear. I don't see why you can't take a trip. BTW are you trying to drive 1500 miles without stopping. Uh you have to stop to eat and put gas in your car and unless you are Iceman, you need to sleep. Just be gentle and enjoy your trip. |
I didnt follow all of the break in rules. My car was my first stick and i was still learning so, a few over revs. The engine wont blow. It still runs. Its a lease anyways. I wont haave to worry about the problems down te road.

First 1200 miles you need to keep the RPM's under 4,000. Very hard to do especially if you take ED like I did.
However, the engineers at the factory in Munich told me the most important element of the break-in process is to vary engine speeds and be very gentle with the brakes.... I'm at 6100 miles and the engine is smoother and more powerful, than when it was new. Regards, Miller Attachment 3950 |
