I think you're absolutely right.

(Except for the part about the E90... )

when the car is on and the engine runing the brake has a hydrolic pump that acts like a booster to the brake and makes them feel alot lighter...but when you turn off your car the system stops working..so it feels heavy....
the thing is..what if you were dirving and the engine shut off while driving then that would make the brakes heavy...probably take superman to properly brake from motorway speeds...so the system has a safety feature that alows a few more light presses before loosing the bosster efect..just in order for u to stop safely..
if your car is in the garage go press the brake pedall a few times. and it will get heavy..start the car, they will get light. turn it off..and press a few more times. they get heavy..check this out....im also asuming that perhaps the system also loses its preasure over time..
this happens in ALL cars...well atleast all the ones i know...

Thank you. Yes... most cars with vacuum power assist (gas/petrol cars). Here's another one to try. Try and turn the steering wheel when the car is off.

now that you have talked about turning the wheel...i have noticed something on my car im sure its normal but i dont rremember any other cars doing the same...my car does NOT have have active steering....iff i turn the wheel to full lock and force it their with my had and swith off the engine the steering would turn a few inches..suprised me when i first saw it...is this only in newer cars or do all BMWs do the same...
