Just curious what the life span (in miles) would be for a set of brakes on these cars, if driven fairly aggressively.
I'm sure it varies somewhat, but at what point should I be nudging my SA to give me new brakes?

The SA will rely primarily on what the iDrive system states unless there is some other related issue with the brake system.
A friend of mine tracks her car (unofficially of course), and she's gotten new pads at 12k without an eyebrow raised by the SA. I think generally however, the from pads will go from 25-35k and the rears from 45-55k.

Drive it hard and try to get them just before your maintence service runs out. that way you have fresh brakes for the next year or 2.

I have 28,000 km = 17,500 miles and my idrive says I only have around 15,000 km = around 9,500 miles to go on my reat brake pads. Front is somewhat higher (25,000 km to go = 15,000 miles). I am a rather defensive driver.

Mine were replaced by my dealer a year ago right before a track day (had some minor low speed noise). I think idrive showed 30K miles life on the fronts with the new pads. After a day on the track (which is considered an easy one on brakes) it showed 24k. After another year (15k miles) of mostly highway it was down to 12K. A day at the track the week before last it dropped it to only 6K remaining.
So basically 2 days at the track = a full year of normal driving.
My concern is that I'm doing a 2-day track event in Sept. (at a track considered hard on brakes) and I don't think my front pads will live through it, but will not have enough wear to have the dealer replace them before then. Maybe if I drive really hard I can use up 6k miles of pad this summer.....
(otherwise I guess I'll be buying some aftermarket performance pads)

mine had like about 3k left on the front and about 1k on the back
and i changed my pads and got some EBC, but my stocks lasted 18k miles, which is good
i think having drilled and grooved rotors will wear down pads quicker too

didnt know that 40-50 k miles could be done...........
