It's called the grand mom phenomenon.

If the pads and discs are alright (they also might be worn out),
just use the brakes at high speed and brake hard a couple of times.

Just look in your rear view mirror before you do it.

yeah, mine squealed like a "horny cat in the middle of the night!" after they (dealer) did a break job. go figure. and according to the write up, the rear sensor wasn't installed correctly! wtf! shouldn't they have caught that right away? their excuse, "oh it'll "squeal" the first few miles." BS, mine screamed!

it's gotta be your sensor, could possibly be making contact with the rotor. have it checked out. good luck

I had the pads and sensors replaced under warranty about 3 weeks ago due to squealing. My car still squeals like a pig but only in reverse (I back out of my garage and down the driveway) I called the dealer and they want me to bring it in and have a foreman listen to it. SA told me that a little squealing is normal. Yeah right, didn't squeal for the first 3 years I owned it but now its normal. Only 2K left on the warranty so I'm trying to get it squared away.

I had the same problem and they replaced the front senor's, it worked great after that... luckily they replaced it just before the warranty expired....

question does this happen only in 30 degree weather or below.... because I also had a problem with the rear breaks just after they replaced them.. ended up it was do to the cold weather... but i also agree with what the person wrote above.. about getting on the break hard a couple of times to get that film off the pads...

Mine squeels as well, the dealer told me its the sensor, and that BMW is working on a new sensor. I have 9,000km remaining on my brakes. Dealer told me that if you replace the sensor (under warranty of course) that this will not garantee the noise will be gone, because the sensor and the pads wear uniformly. I will wait until my brakes are due for replacement (since I have the free brakes package) and then replace the sensor and the pads at the same time. For their sake it better not squeel again.

my problem exactly. ive taken it in twice to no avail. i will print the bulletin and try that. Its a shame a $70,000 car squeals as if it were an old junker...wait my old 12 year old maxima didnt do that even at 170,000 miles
