I'm about to work on the brakes and rotors. I don't want to get a whole set of hex sockets but can't remember what sizes I need for my 2007 530i
Anybody know the size required? And any abnormal tool that I need in order to change the brakes and rotors?
Tia

A 6 hex fits perfectly, and the same kind you use in the engine bay screws also work.
Problem was, mine was rusted in. Had to drill them out anyway.
Maybe post a DIY on how I did it later.

I believe it is a 7mm hex for removing the 2 screws pointing to the inside of the car
something like this:
Sears.com
got mine at NAPA for like 3-4 bucks
This link has the PDFs for the front & rear breaks from BMW mechanic guides.
If you want a more detailed one I will try to find the one I used when I did mine.

as far as the actual rotor it is held on by a common size and a multi-tool one should have the size. Don't remember it off the top of my head. Doesn't require a ton of torque so the multi-tool worked fine for me.

A 7mm hex tool is required for the caliper guide pins. This is not a size that is included in most sets. You'll want a standard length, 3/8" drive socket. The NAPA Carlyle brand is good (Taiwan), but Sears has gone to China. There are many other tool brands to choose from.

I used a impact hammer to remove mine. More than likely if you try by hand you will strip the head. I think the impact hammer cost about $12.00 at just about any parts store.
