My Ride: 535d Sport, carbon black, media pack, visibility pack, grey leather, heated seats, sun protection glass, voice control, Eibach ProKit, 19" 166 style wheels, e-maps ECU remap to 325hp and 640NM, top speed limiter removed
the rear ones do not always last longer. Depends on the driving style.
The more you throw it around the quicker the rears wear, due to DSC (DTC) using them to correct the car.
I have 25k on the clock now and both, front and rear show 9000 miles left.

Generally with most modern cars that is true because there is less 'meat' on modern rotors and the life of the rotors are about the same as the pads. But a measure of the rotors would quickly tell if they're still within spec. If you had 10k miles left on the pads it could be that the rotors were still okay.
I would question the dealer about it....like do I have to worry about the rotors getting too thin before these pads wear out and what problems will I experience.
