Brake pad wear indicator
#1
Hello everyone,
I'm planning quite a long trip tomorrow and just now got that 'Brake pad wear indicator' saying there is a FAULT IN THE BRAKE PAD WEAR SENSORS.
In the Service section of the menu the brake pads still have lots of miles before change, smth like 7K for the front and 16K for the rear ones. So if anybody knows exactly what that whole FAULT is about please let me know ASAP.
Thank you in advance

ECU remapped by ZipTuning to 260+bhp.
Could be a loose contact.
If the computer doesn't detect resistance (well, it does detect it, because it's infinite ) it assumes the sensors or connection have gone faulty.

I'd take it in and have the codes read and pads/rotors/lines/sensors checked. If you're out of warranty, try a reputable indie shop to save some money. BTW member Anthony@F1Autohaus has some pretty good deals on replacement brakes, as do some of the other vendors on here - if you're paying for parts out of your pocket, that is. Good luck

will probably have to, dont want to neglect brakes
I don't know if you've done much research into brakes, but aftermarket increased-performance parts are usually either cheaper or similarly priced to OEM parts, offering better performance - again, if you're paying for it yourself, not having it done under warranty/service contract, you will get more for your money.

If you don't take it to a dealer, make sure you use a reputable and able shop. Around here there are a couple of places I can think of that not only are reputable and fairly priced, but they also will reset the wear indicators in the iDrive - just like a dealer would.
