Default Brake job for 2008 535i w/ sport pacjage

Looks like its time for me to get my front brakes done. Any recommendations on using BMW parts or maybe something better? Ahh, not willing to spring for some Brembos - although I wish I could.

Also, anyone hear about brakes measuring ok but sensor saying it's time to replace. I got an email from my car saying it was time.

Any response would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

Not sure about 2010, I have 07 550 I would not go back to OEM brakes too much dust. I hate having to clean my wheels weekly. If you have that problem then I would stay away from OEM brakes.

It said, "Your 2008 535I SEDAN has indicated that you need to schedule a service appointment for the following service(s):

• Front brakes

You may not have noticed it requires attention - fortunately, your BMW knows exactly when the time is right. Thanks to BMW TeleService, an intelligent onboard system, your vehicle automatically alerts BMW with information about its maintenance needs.

I did not get a light...

I have the same problem with the brake dust. Maybe I'll look for other brakes that may not have that problem.

Any recommendations?

Akebono ceramic pads, and you'll never have to worry about break dust, there is a slight difference in breaking though, bought mine at rockauto.com and the sensors too cost me $280 for all pads and labor, had meineki installed it for me

What is the difference in braking?? Please do detail that?? Is the bite missing??? Did you change the rotors too??

I have 46K miles and on the original rotors and pads. The car says I have another 12K on front pads and 18K on the rear pads. Do you guys change rotors everytime or just the pads?? If you dont change the rotors do you turn them??

My rotors was resurfaced and i only changed my break pads, you will need 2break sensors with that, one in the front and another in the rears. Mine was due to change. And about the breaking it doesnt bite compare to the oem, its ok with me its just something that you have to get used too. =) its not like its not gonna break hehe but i used my car for 3weeks and it got dusty not from the breaks but daily use

Thanks for everyone's inputs. As it turns out, the dealer that I originally took the car cut me a great deal due to extenuating circumstances - so I went with original BMW pads and rotors - about $500 total cost for pads, rotors, sensors.
