I ordered sport low-dust brake pads from Bavarian Auto and I'm about to do my 1st brake change, front and rear. Car has 85,000 miles, I'll need to measure the brake disk width to determine if it's still good. What is an acceptable lowest measurement specification before I have to replace the brake disks?
Also, I thought brake disks had to be resurfaced to install new brake pads so I went to the local auto parts store where they resurface disks and they said BMW does not resurface disks, and BMW does not provide resurfacing specs.
Thanx.

You must be the most conservative BMW driver on the planet.
That said, treat your car and you to a set of brake discs. You both deserve it

Minimum brake disc thickness varies model to model. (As Acute posted) On most discs the min dimension is stamped somewhere on the disc!!
But if your BMW has already had two brake pad changes and this is your third, at 85K miles ... IMHO even with a very conservative driving style like yours, you should replace those discs to ensure proper braking performance.

Even if your discs have enough thickness to skim properly, the cost of a new set of discs is relatively small. (In the UK anyway). The difference in the price of a skim and new discs make this not good value for money.
