Default Brack pads/rotors '10 535 x drive-HELP

Just went for inspection and failed due to front pads/rotors. The shop is looking for $560 for Beck Arnley rotors and Wagner pads and Beck Arnley brake sensors. I called up to my normal import auto guy who quoted me $880 and cautioned me to be careful about after market parts for brakes. Anyone have any experience or thoughts? Obviously I would rather pay $560 as I am just a daily driver with the car. Thanks

I'm running aftermarket brakes and have not had any problems what so ever. I think I paid 60 or so for them at advance. Sensor runs around 20 and a set of rotor from autozone are around 80. So for well under 200 you could do it yourself. Sure you can buy more expensive parts, maybe they are better but if you are not a tracker or and aggressive drive I seriously doubt you would notice the difference.

Aftermarket parts vary pretty greatly, so some are better or as good as OEM and some are junk. In my own search for brake parts, which I don't need quite yet, I remembered that Beck Arnley had a line of Zimmerman they were sourcing (ones with the Z on the end of the part number). Now, they have others too, so I think the main thing it to see what the shop is going to use. See this from their Beck Arnley Online Parts Catalog site:

Brembo or Zimmerman for rotors, Pagid and Jurid for pads. Don't go cheap. Stay with the BMW
design if you want it to perform as before.

I have the ECS Tuning rotors and Hawk HPS pads front and rear. About 3000 miles. Been very happy so far.
