did some searches, some people seem to have seen this some not.

basically when i open the boot/trunk via the remote it opens ok but i noticed today that as it opens the first say 80% of its movement is damped nicely, smooth, then it visibly stops and then the last 20% it goes into free wheeling uncontrolled speed as if the damping is no longer working and completes the opening it then kind of bounces lightly on its hinge for a second or too till it settles.....i'm sure it didn't do this before?????

is this one for the dealer?

i removed the boot/trunk trim pieces at each side where the spring/arms disappear into the car body and all looks nice n clean / new and in place but i still get this two stage/speed opening which i'm sure i didnt have before

 

Mine works in entirely the opposite way. Damped only at the end of the travel. But works well.

However, for me, the damping only works if the car is level.

Mine's the same as ABC's. The lid comes up sharply, but then slows down to a stop.
My personal preference would be to have less of a spring on the lid, as I always seem to be either slamming it down or having two goes at it to shut!

hmm interesting...car is park outside hotel right now and on a bit of a steep slope (bonnet down hill)...maybe thats got something to do with it...will check in the morning when i leave here.
