I have not found conclusive information about boost pressures in BMW diesels from net. Some say that 535d have 2,85bar boost, but that sounds high, comparing information that 530d should have about 1,8 bar.

I would be interested about information of all engines. Maybe that could be added to motor information pages then too.

This is only "nice to know" information and will be used in conversations in local bar, with other petrol heads!

Interesting post, VERY!
but i don't have info about this...yeah 2,85 sounds high also but i suspect at least 2 bar boost pressure for the 535d. Or logicly maybe the boost pressure would be less in the 535d because of the TT setup.?!? or m i wrong?

Anyway more info is greatly appreciated...

The 535d has 2.85bar absolute manifold pressure. 'Boost pressure' aka 'gauge pressure' usually refers to the difference between ambient pressure and absolute manifold pressure. In other words, at sea level you would see a 'boost' pressure of 1.85bar (2.85bar minus 1bar) on a 'boost' gauge.

I read this same info from somewhere else. Do anyone know reason why boost pressure has given as absolute pressure? Can it be because inlet manifold can go to "negative" if gauge pressure is used?

E60Speed You have been good source of info, can You help in this?
