Are you guys installing these yourselves or having pros do the work? Should I have my BMW dealer do it? This is assuming I buy one prepainted of course. I'm a pretty handy guy so it might be a fun project....or am I stupid to consider this?

Thansk,

Vince

Depends what you mean by body kit. If you have standard bumpers and are upgrading to MTech or M5, then that sounds a pretty involved job, probably requiring 2 people.
If all you are doing is adding a boot spolier and maybe a front splitter, I think that should be an easy DIY project.
If you are going to get it done professionally, why pay dealer labour rates, just take it to your local trusted bodyshop; make sure they know what they are doing, and keep an eye on them while they do it !

I had a body shop install my M-Tech. I have heard of a lot of people doing it themselves. It is possible and there are a lot of DIY post on how to accomplish this. You will need someone else to assist though. Mounting the bumpers will need another set of hands.

I agree with Hyper_545i and Gudge.

I did install my M-Tech myself with my brother. The job is quite easy. Just don't hurry.
Lots of information and help available here on E60Forums !

So, if you're a handy guy, I recommend doing it yourself (with a person)!

Depands what kind of a DIY'er you are. I got mine installed by a body shop.

i leave certain things to the PROs. I can do engine DYI, but with body stuff i don't mess with.
The front bumper with PDC, fogs and all the other stuff, too many things going in for me.

I am sure I can do it, but with time being valuable, it's not worth it for me to spend whole day doing this.
