Hummm, mine come up as an E60, however the model says 525d and the production date says 2/2002. What is up with that?

This has been posted here before. The decoders are wrong quite a bit.

It worked and gave me the right production date, FF. It is the same production date that is on the door jamb on the driver side. You might check there if you haven't already.

The production date on the door jamb seems to be US spec.
Definately not on mine, you can allways ask your dealer...

i dont have a build date in my door jamb, as iceman said, it might be us specs, and over here cars come mostly with german specs.

so.. any way i can find my build date without asking my dealer? (they're really not that helpful at all)

You could ask BMW. My dealer told me the Birthday of my car and when I talked to BMW I asked them and they had the same date for me...
