In 2004 I was given this Credit Card with the usual baloney about being privileged to get one. I took it and started spending as often as possible (with its ridiculously low monthly limit), in the hope that I would be able to redeem points towards my next car.

Well here I am 3 years later with 78,000 points and guess what? Its worth a whopping $780 towards the next car. What a f***ing crock! 90,000 points with Amex get me a first class airline ticket to Europe and back. E60.neters beware.

Yes this is very true, it is pennies on the dollar. I gave up and stopped using it, the truth is I like the BMW Logo on the damn thing and it looks good for presentation. It is basically useless.

I read a couple years ago that you only get 1 point for every two dollars spent (they say this clearly online and in the brochure) and that is pathetic.
So, I never got one.
My wife gets 3% in Subaru bucks (basically 6 x more than the BMW card) on her CC, but then she likes Subaru....

Sorry, I don't agree- I've gotten two airline tickets to Hawaii for this June, and last year four tickets to Florida around Easter. My credit limit is $20,000 and I use it for everything I can. You get 2 points for each dollar in gas and 1 point for all other dollars spent. Air tickets are 25,000 each up to $600 and Hawaii tix were 40,000 each up to $800 or you pay the difference. It cost $50 a year. I think its an OK deal. I still have a few thousand points left over and may use them in case I go over on my lease miles. All this in about 2.5 years. Maybe I would have done better with another card but hey, what the heck I got about $2600 in freebies so I'm not complaining.

Never go with the Credit Card with restrictions (like the points/rewards you have to use only towards what they say or what they offer?). The CC Companies and Banks use ads and promotions to trap us. Amex, BMW, MB, Porshce CC - Big Deal ? There are many cards with no annual fee that give you cash back in form of a check periodically (full 5% cash back on any gas station+ auto services and full 1% on other purchases, Some CC give you full 3% on business related expenses-car,office etc.)

Always use CC with CASH BACK in form of check or towards the same CC bill payment, This is your cash with no strings attached and with this cash U should be able to do anything towards anything. In your case/ or such scenario the cash you are getting is $780 that I think you have to spend towards BMW only with some annnual fee? If you had this cash back(check) from some other card (variable cash back 1-5%,you would have collected more than $780 and still spend it towards anything periodically.

I go for CC with no annual fee and cash back(1-5% cash back depending on the CC)) in form of check and I use this whereever I wish. It comes to same or better return and u do not have to wait for your rewards/points with restrictions like you have spend toward thier autos etc. This is all scam and trap.
