Does anyone have as much trouble with their car's settings not changing after locking/unlocking with different keys. Same problem with my wife's X5. Neither car has ever worked right in this regard. We take the cars in; they give them electical-shock treatments; they demonstrate that they work after treatment; and they act like I am dumb and can't handle these new-fangled electronic things--even though they don't work when we bring the cars in. And, then the keys/settings don't work by the time we get home. I have never seen this issue addressed here. Admittedly, I didn't do a thorough search. Has anyone's dealer found a solution to the problem?

Sometimes when your gets serviced and reporgramming is done, your car/key memory settings change. The technician is suppose to reprogram to your orginal car/key settings.

Thanks much, but I am thinking you don't understand my problem. Look at post 10 on this thread. And, why is your lovely avatar so smushed lately?

Has anyone else ever had the problem I described? I always assumed that it must be very common since it exists almost all the time on both of our BMW's.

Thanks ABC. The link worked when I set it up. Wonder what happened. Some weren't understanding so the issue is explained differently in the broken link. I'll fix it. Thanks again.

We had no problems with the E39 and only a minor problem with the mirror settings in the E53 but it was fixed with a software update and new module. I haven't tried it with the E60 since the wife doesn't normally drive my car anymore.

Well as best I can determine, the thread has disappeared. It's title did not match what was in the thread--because it was sort of an accident anyway. But, OK, let me explain again.

This process should work on both cars, but it seldomly works as explained in the first post.

1. Drive car with key #1; park it and lock it with same key.
2. Unlock car with key #2.
3. The drivers position and other physical settings should change mechanically to the settting associate with key #2.

But, as explained in post #1, the process almost never works properly.

Thanks IRM: I am up to 20.01.00, but maybe another software update is in order. The last car in for the problem was my wife's, and they didn't suggest an update despite the persistent problem. I didn't mention doing so because we had no time that day. I think it's odd that I have never seen our problem mentioned here before even though it is so persistent on both of our cars.

I am amazed. No one has any ideas here or ever has experienced our problem. How many know that the settings should change when changing keys/drivers as I have described? Come on guys and gals; let's get some help here.
