I already posted this in the DIY and there was only one response, so I will try here. Doe sanyone know a website or link to the newer TIS or product information guide that covers the new production models? I have looked on peer to peer channels but no luck. Did find the 2005-2 European Navigation DVD Professional on E-mule for anyone interested. It works great. I have been using without a problem....you download the image and use Alcohol 120% to burn the image on a DVD. IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!! Saves you $200.00.

Yes, people do know...and the answer is that TIS and other BMW Service products are very expensive, and not freely available. It's illegal to obtain them from filesharing networks (or, at the very least, a civil copyright infringement, depending on your jurisdiction), just as obtaining NAVTEQ navigation discs in this manner also is.

Please don't discuss pirating BMW Service materials or other software here. I understand that we all want to have the latest and greatest information directly from BMW, but this information costs money. You can actually subscribe to BMW TIS online at http://www.bmwtis.com/

Subscription Rates:
1-Day (24 hour) Subscription: $25
1-Month (30-days) Subscription: $300
1-Year Subscription: $2500

Interestingly, I found a really cool public feature on that web site:

http://www.bmwtis.com/tiscode/modelmap/modelmap.asp

You can use it to get year, model, engine, and series information for any relationship between those criteria.

I got my TIS/WDS/parts CDs from eBay for like $50. They sure looked legal.

BMW Technical Information System. It's among a set of CDs (or DVDs...and now online, too) that the dealers get that contain BMW technical and service information. Many times the bulletins speak to specific things we may be concerned about on our cars, e.g., noisy Dunlop runflat replacements, SMG problems, iDrive updates, etc. It often gives us more ammunition with dealers who either aren't as up to date as us, don't know what they're doing, or are withholding information. Thus the desire for enthusiasts like us to have access to this information.
