Hey guys,
My dealer gave me a set of the all-weather rubber BMW mats as a gift when I bought my car. I'd like to use them, but the smell! No way I want to put them in my new car right now. I have them "airing" out in my garage right now, but the still stink. Is there anyway to clean them and not discolor them? (Their black) I tried to clean them with Simple Green, but they still smell.
I know, it's a silly question, but I hate to use them and have the rubber odor cancel out the new car smell!

I don't know of any way to accelerate the process of removing the rubber odor. I think you're doing all you can do just by letting them breathe...

They had to order the OEM BMW mats, and couldn't understand what my problem was, until I showed them the smooth pad that is located under the pedals. Still not sure if they understood, but then, they tend to be more "automatic" guys.
Cheers,

I have done the dame to my BMW rubber mats.
They were left in the garage near a little window for 10 days.
After that the smell wasn't the same, but only with time you will get all the smell away ...

My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.
I don't recall mine smelling. However, I put them in as soon as I took my car home and maybe it was overpowered by the new car/leather smell.
