I've had my car for about a year. Now, when I look at the paint job at that certain angle I can see what appear to be water spots all over the hood, trunk, and roof. It basically looks like little micro circles all etched and pocked into the paint. I have religiously cared for this car, washing regularly and garaging it, and don't live in a town with acid rain (Jacksonville). I also keep Klasse and high quality wax on it at all times. It seems the paint on this car is easily susceptible (soft), to light etching in the clear coat.

Is this something that the factory warranty would cover?

I've tried the vinegar acid bath on it and have also tried using a PC orbital buffer/with a fine compound, with no results. The etching is still there.

This has been annoying me for quite some time now. I just want to see that shiny mirror finish from all angles!

I sympathize with you. It sounds like you have done all the right things. There is nothing to do but to start trying to get a warranty repaint of the affected areas. If your dealer says no, then try to arrange a meeting with a BMW rep. Anticipate a struggle.

i have the same problem. -- burbank airport with valet.
i took it immediately to professional car wash. They buffed out the top layer -- but its still there in the paint. Sprinkler system = mineral water
