After 6 months of my car bouncing back and forth between my local bimmer tech and a bmw dealership I am now being told that they figured out my many electrical and performance issues are stemming from a faulty Safety Control Module. I ordered this part ($1100) and after waiting an additional 3 months have received a call from the tech saying that BMW is no longer making that part and that since is has to be manufactured specifically for my VIN I am now up the creek and my car (blue book value of $4500ish) is now worth $800 and they will buy it from me to part out.
Is BMW really already not making parts for a 2006 525xi? I know it is old but it isn’t THAT old! Aside from the random and varied electrical and performance issues the car is in great shape with 130k miles. What recourse do I have? Any ideas would be helpful! Thanks.

I'd suggest calling around to different junkyards. I know buying used electrical parts is sketchy, but you don't seem to have any other recourse. You might also try to find if the part has been superseded by something else.
