Finally this is the first time Ive seen BMW on the news recognizing this problem with the N54 engines. They spoke about it briefly, but a BMW head guy said although the cars occassionally go into "limp mode" and they "shut down" no accidents have been reported. He also said nothing about addressing the problem whatsoever though. Amazing.

it was on good morning america; a national program. here is a link to the article the story was based on:

http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/bmw-adm...ry?id=11968495

"the German automaker told ABC News that they would soon announce a "major action" to address the fuel pump issue."

that sounds interesting..

Apparently, BMW has a properly working HPFP as of March 2010 and is still testing it in the field. The new pump is currently only available to customers with failed units. For those with or looking at vehicles with the N54 engines, there is some good news.

Also, Wikipedia: BMW N54 lists a brand new remanufactured pump 1351 7 613 933 HPFP in May 2010. "Brand New Reman"???

Too bad that it is not mentioned that the HPFP is NOT limited to turbo charged engines only, but that the N53 engine equipped cars have issues with it as well (325i 3000CC engine).

I posted this over on Kzang's thread regarding the class action law suit...

http://forums.5serie..._1#entry1250839

I decided to contact the law firm out of curiosity, this as the second email I received from the firm...

We have been contacted by reporters from ABC who are doing a story on the BMW fuel pump issues. We are told the story will run on Oct. 26th on Good Morning America and Nightline. As part of the story, they would like to flash up on the screen happy BMW owners posing with their new cars. They will then contrast this with the nightmare people have been experiencing with their cars. I'm told the photos will only be on the screen for a short period of time.

If you have an appropriate photo and are interested, please e-mail it to me and I'll pass it on.

It was on the am newscycle of KGO in SFO.
Not a great day for BMW or owners.

Fuel pump issues put N52 owners in the "slow lane"

Brake problems for V8's

We haven't even mentioned transmissions

Didn't have to be like this. They should have jumped on it.

But at least the steering wheel is heated.
