This is from a E90 3 Series forum

MP3 software availalble from september for cars with NAV, so the E60 should also get it ( confirming early reports of MP3 software in September )

My Ride: Arpil '04 production 545, Orient Blue, Sport Pkg, Step, CWP, NAV, Logic 7, Comfort Seats, PDC, Sat Prep, cip v20.02 (bluetooth and mp3 working great)

A strict reading of the release implies that it is a hardware change to the actual cd player that will enable the mp3 playback capability, not a new software upgrade. Anyone know for sure if MP3 will be enabled via software on older models?

Yep, it will. It was also confirmed as a software update from Munich... Fro nav pro cars that is...

Mine is a US model '06 built in April'05... an MP3 disk works just fine. I don't have the Nav system and just the standard in-dash CD player.

Nope, that's DTC+ - rumored to require a different hardware unit.


I think the info regarding non-nav MP3 is a little misleading - it's there in March 2005 production 2006 MY cars in the US as well. The jury is still very much out on any non-nav US cars built prior to this date.
