Total BMW Group sales this May totaled 27,787 vehicles, up 7.8% when compared to May, 2003. Total BMW Group sales of 115,737 units for the first 5 months of 2004 represents a 3.1% increase when compared to the same 5 months of last year.
By way of comparison Mercedes Benz reported total sales this month of 18,141 vehicles, down 5.4% when compared to May, 2003. YTD MB sales totaled 85,684 units which is a 3.4% decrease from the first five months of last year.
What makes the BMW sales figures more interesting this month is to see that dealer incentives on 15 models seemed to have a minimal impact on sales this month. All 3 of the E60 5 Series models were included in the dealer incentives. The dealer incentives started on May 7 and are currently scheduled to end on June 30.
This month I have re-vamped the report to add a new total for BMW truck sales so that you may more easily see the impact of the X3 on X5 sales and total truck sales. More importantly, I have added a ?Percent Change? column to reflect the percent change in sales of each series when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. This improvement allows you to easily see which series are contributing to the growth in total BMW sales each period.
My reports now provide you with a full 3 year history of BMW sales. Use the Adobe ?Bookmarks? feature to view the past reports.
