I may be wrong, but I do not think that (talking about the "new" 535d) an addition of 14 bhps and 1 tenth less on the 0-60 time is that noticeable by any DRIVER ... I think the whole thing has more to do with marketing than substance
Simple answer - torque and gear shift. The gearbox on this car is smoother than the RRS i previously owned; do a search on this forum for pre LCI auto box issues (accepting that 600 miles is not strictly a comparison!)

I saw few of them as well by my dealer last week and I must say that BMW did a great job as the new does not make the previous looking old on the spot like is normally doing Audi.

Time for me to reload some pictures that I took at the AutoRai 2007. BMW displayed quite some cars there, including 3x 1-series, 1x E90, 1x E91, 1x E92, 1x E93, a FaceLift BMW 550i E60, a BMW M5 Touring E61, a BMW X4 4.8i (E70), a BMW M6 Convertible, a BMW Z4M Coup?, a BMW X3 3.0sd, and a BMW 730Ld. Quite some interesting cars to watch.

The pictures I post here are from the 550i and M5 Touring, as some "new" color-combinations might be of interest to some of you guys.

Type: BMW 550i Sedan
Color: TiefseeBlau Metallic
Rims: Styling 245
Interior: Leather Dakota Sattelbraun
Trim: Aluminium

Look here for the pictures of the 550i FaceLift

Type: BMW M5 Touring
Color: Silverstone II Metallic
Rims: Styling 166M
Interior: Leather Merino Black
Trim: Aluminium

Link to the BMW M5 Touring pictures

I can hardly see any difference from the "old" e60. Thank God!

Same here. Almost the same.

Look below the surface and you'll find the improved engines and transmission.

Today (well, actually yesterday) I had the opportunity to visit the dealership for a "sneak preview" of the new BMW's (5-series, 3-series Convertible and X5), as the official introduction is due for today. I have made some pictures, which I would like to share with you in this thread. Well, I have to say that BMW has done a great job on improving such a nice, modern and elegant car even more. Everything I liked about the "old" E60, I like even more in the "new" E60.

Anyway, here are the pictures:

Type: BMW 525i Sedan
Color: MonacoBlau Metallic
Rims: Styling 242
Interior: Black
Trim: Grey

Here is the link to the pictures of this car

The dealership here also had a second FaceLift 5-series:

Type: BMW 525i Touring
Color: SpaceGrau Metallic
Rims: Styling 245
Interior: Leather Dakota Black
Trim: Grey

Click here for the pictures of this car
Terrific pics - especially love the deep sea blue - for others, recommend going to that link and then selecting the hyperlink under the photos which takes you to his full photo album - then choose the "slide show" button to see large, hi-res photos...

That deep sea blue looks AWESOME! First time I've actually seen it on a real car - thank you for the excellent quality sharp pics.... now I'm very much leaning towards that color on my LCI 550i.....

Regarding my previous post in this thread - apologies if I quoted the wrong text -- the link I mention is the one on the LCI facelift 550i with the german spelling of "deep sea blue"... one of the first couple of posts in this thread.... thanks again Skipper!

I'm hoping Sattelbraun = Natural Brown. IMHO Good looking combination.
