I would definitely try what the earliest posters said and do some VERY hard braking to get the soccer mom braking surface off the pads. Personally, I've never had this problem but that probably speaks to my braking style.

And heck, you may as well have some fun before bringing it to the dealer if it doesn't work, right?

It reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad would decide to floor it on the highway--my mother would tell him to slow down, and he'd say he was just "knocking the carbon out" of the engine!!

I have the same problem with the squealing.

What?s making me curious is the duration of the break pads.
I have 74.500 kms at the moment and the i drive service menu is showing 9.000 kms to change the rear and 23.000 kms(!!!!!) to change the front pads ?!!!? Is this possible ? I think it's a little too much.
But then if it's correct maybe that explains the squealing, the pads are hard(?) but what's going to happen with the discs ????

Yeah that's a good reason, BMW have to be driven hard otherwise it will be in the shop because of different problems. (That's what I told my mom when she say slow down )

I had the same problem about 3 or 4 months ago about 18000 miles took it in the dealer said there is a TSB to shave down the sensor wich worked and 5000 miles later still no squeek or noise.
Can anybody point me at this TSB? Then I can stick it under the nose of my dealer! Thanks.
