From an overall climate control performance standpoint, the system in my US 545i is the best I have experienced, and I have had several cars with "automatic" systems including Lexus, Acura, etc. I don't have to fiddle very much with this system except for the occasional temperature adjustment. It seems to be a smarter, more consistent system than anything else I have experienced. I also like the quickness of the seat heaters.
The only qualifier is that I have not experienced it in truly cold weather yet. I hope it works as well as it has during the frigid Minnesota days still to come.

I realize that climate preferences are very different, but this is the first car where I've been able to "set and forget." It handles warm, cold, humid, raining, snow, ... and always keeps me comfy. Wow!

Agreed. The E60s airconditioning is extremely good, and requires minimal fine tuning.
Our car had the annoying moldy smell this summer, but it appears that the freezing temperatures up north have eliminated the smell.

I'm a little weary of them spraying chem. into my air-con then breathing the stuff. I have experinced this smell during the first couple of weeks of my new car while still using the AC. Then it got cold and after using the heater the smell went away.
So my thought is to turn on the heater every once and a while during the summer (maybe while the windows are down) to dry up any moisture left from AC condensation ?
