Hey everybody,

I saw someone mention on a thread a while ago that for the 2004-2005 BMW 545i production years, around 8000 vehicles were sent to the United States. I have searched everywhere and cannot find an actual sale number or production number from BMW regarding the 545i. Does anyone know how many 545i's are currently present in the US and/or how many were sold in the US for the 2004-2005 production years?? I was just curious because it is more common for me to see an e60 M5 than it is for me to see a 545i. Thanks!!

 

545i's were only made for 04 and 05, while the m5 was made from 06-10. Perfectly reasonable that m5 would be seen more considering the years made, also how many 545i's could have been junked because of the massive oil leaks that plague BMW v8's? Of course the same could be said about the m5 and it's maintenance requirements.

 

Yeah exactly the gasket problems the 545i engine suffers has most likely killed a bunch of them. Not sure if he was talking out of his a$s but a BMW tech told me that he heard around 1/4 of all 545i in the US are dead at this time (mainly due to their age and gasket problems). Interesting how BMW has no real production numbers for the 545i posted online tho...
