Hi i recently purchased a 545 2004 with 70k miles on it

i dont think the suspension was ever replaced on the car, the car sits straight and seems pretty low,

i checked the springs and theyre oem, i have maximum 2 inches of fender gap front and back

now i want to replace the springs and shocks, i dont know if oem will make my ride higher then now

id like to keep that same height but with a brand new suspension, any toughts?????

If you replace them with OEM suspension, they shouldn't be any higher.

well brand new springs will sit a little bit higher for little while... but will settle down to where they are now.

+1 the new springs will sit a bit higher then the original ones. because over time the coil spring loses tension and tends to sag a bit. but when replaced with new ones it will only sit up a tad higher harldy noticeable and will once again settle down lower again over time. good luck

I would be shocked if you needed springs, the shocks are probably still good too. I have 68K on mine and even with the shitty roads the shocks are still in great shape.

correct. monroe recommends to replace the struts once youve reached to 80,000kms for the average car, but bmw's suspension is built very well and designed to last. so the dealer only recommends to replace the strut once they start leaking. other than that they could go over 150,000 kms plus. depending on various reasons. if you have the m5 suspension already factory on the vehicle then you could simply swap them. but i would get that checked out first before you by the parts and they are not the right fit. good luck and let us know how it goes.

X2 There is no way that car needs springs and shock at 70K.
