what is EGR? sorry
It's ok.

The EGR valve is a part of an Exhaust Gas Recirculation system in diesel engines and it locates in front end of intake manifold.

The aluminium part in this pic is the EGR valve, and the plug that Rislar and I are talking about is the plug on top of it. Nevermind the other texts in the pic.

By the way, as a diesel BMW owner, are you (m3singh) aware of swirl flap problem?

I took my car to a BMW Specialist and he told me that My Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) needs changing.

1. My question is if i don't change for a few months will it affect the car in any way.
2. Can the filter be cleaned some how.

I was told that a new one will cost ?1200 and a second hand one will be around ?300 to ?400 but i done have that kind of money yet.
