Hi, I need help please..
I have: BMW 520d E60, 56 Plate, 90k miles, Saloon,
Turbo went yesturday, it had already gone when I drove it (ie it didnt blow suddenly), car didnt go past 40mph in any gear.
Garage say it is completely ceased up, and going by some 320d they did last week they say it will cost around £1800 for parts and labour.
They havnt checked for collateral damage yet, and I have a AutoProtect warranty which has a month left, that I bought with car less than a year ago. But by all accounts they will just say it is wear and tear.
Is this a good price? and is it possible to buy a cheaper turbo off Ebay or somewhere else, either refurbished or new. I have seen some for around £500 so even with labour this will surely be less than 1800.
Just some advice please cos I'm not sure I cant afford that price on a car thats only worth 8k.
Thanks
David

Hy David, in Uk aren't shops which could repair the interns of the turbo?
In my country are a lot of services who changes all parts from the interior of the turbo- and after that is like brand new with the cost around 400 euro.

Warranty company have come back to me to say they wont pay cost of Turbo as it was due to lack of oil.
Surely if I had a lack of oil my car would chime at me to tell me, it does for everything else.
Do i have an arguament against them to challenge, or should i not bother...has anyone ever won against warranty companies or do they always write some small print in to say they wont cover anything...

is it always possible to repair turbos? when I get turbo back I will look into this....a place in hampshire that fixes turbos would be helpful...

Bloody hell, they must have good eyesight to be able to see your oil level from their office!
