Bleeding/flushing abs and brakes question
 

CAR: BMW 530i E60.

Got a split in the brake hose connected to the 'HR' indicated ABS pump. To remove just the split brake hose, i will be required to remove the connection at the abs pump itself and just half way in the engine bay at just a connecter to another pipe. (the actual hose has a silver connection to the pipe on each end but isn't able to be 'removed', i will leave it to the Pirtek to remove that and supply me with the new instrument with reusing my old pipe)

1. Do i simply put some WD40 on the nut on the abs pump and use a wrench to loosen it to remove the pipe from that?
2. Replace with new piping/hose
3. Flush brakes
4. Flush abs

In regards to flushing the ABS, does anyone know what equipment I would require to individually open each valve with in the pump to properly flush the fluid.

Or otherwise, am i able to just stop at step 3. or 2., top up with new fluid, and drive about 15kms to the mechanic and get them to bleed the brakes and abs for me?

Car currently is low on fluid from it leaking but will top it up with new fluid.

Not sure what is split exactly from your description. Is it a rubber hose or is it one of the metal pipes? Bleeding the brakes is relatively easy with a Motive Bleeder. I've flushed mine twice and it was pretty easy. There are several DIY around.

But, most things I've read say that if the brake system gets air introduced into it, you need to use some special BMW program that does a bunch of pulsating and what not to get all the air bubbles out. From what you are syaing, you'll need to take off one of the fittings from the ABS unit. That would lead me to want to know more about if you need to do this special BMW brake bleeding program. As for WD40, I don't think you need to use it at all. Be sure and use a flare nut wrench on any tubing fittings. It looks like a box wrench, but enough is cut out to fit it over the tube.

Has the system Run dry?
IS the hose pre ABS module or post ABS module?

If it hasn't run dry and the hose is after the ABS module then it should not have air in the accumulator chambers or behind the release valves. Those are the places where air can be hard to get out.
If it hasn't gotten air in yet then bleeding likely will not introduce any and you can avoid the valve and pump activation to bleed the air out of those places.
