Default Bizarre Parking Lamp Message

Hey guys,

So this is random. On my wife's 2007 525xi she is having a message stating "Right front parking lamp malfunction!"

Here's why this is weird:
  • The headlights are DEPO aftermarket units that I installed roughly a year ago. The problem only started up around a month ago.
  • The DEPO headlights are supposed to be "Error Code Eliminating"
  • On top of that, I coded off the Cold, Warm and Start Checks for the parking lamps (Total of SIX "nicht_aktiv" commands for left and right side
  • The LCM took the re-write, as I downloaded the LCM code and it shows that they are in fact "nicht_aktiv"
  • No bulbs are out.
  • It's only the front right side that has an issue, with the same bulbs and hardware on both sides

As if all of this isn't weird enough - the message will annunciate three, four, five times during one drive cycle! That's definitely not supposed to happen. If a bulb fails, the system annunciates this ONCE and it remains in the stored errors indicated by the /!\ in iDrive. It is definitely NOT supposed to keep bugging you during a drive.

Does anyone have any ideas? Also, what bulbs are we talking about here? I am under the assumption that it is the "Angel Eye / Halo's" that are considered front parking lights.

You are correct in that the parking lights are the angel eyes.

man i got some Umnitza lights and i have the same message, i dont know if it is actually something in the wiring but it was not lighting up the angel eyes so i ran a jumper wire. good luck on finding the solution.

Have you checked the wiring to see if it is cracked/frayed. I had that issue in my 05 which is real common.

have you tried a capacitor in line on the power lead to the parking lights or angel eyes wires? this may solve your issue.

So get this... I unplugged the passenger side headlamp and found the two wires that feed 12v to each angel eye ring respectively - add a load resistor - and STILL am getting the Right Front Parking Lamp error message!

I'm gonna try resetting the LCM tomorrow through DIS/GT1. I'm out of ideas after that. This is so beyond annoying I cannot even begin to articulate. Stay tuned. I will find the issue!

So I have a similar issue, not sure if i should create my own thread or not.

I started getting the left daytime/running lamp error about a month ago. Im currently using the h8 lux bulbs from n54 tuning. i checked the angel eyes and its working. I dont get it. is there another bulb that could casue this error?

Daytime Running Lamp is basically a reduced power mode of your High Beams. What kind of bulb do you have in there? LED?

my high beams?

i have an LCI 2008 e60.

last time i checked my highbeams were emitted from the same projector as the main/dipped beam. is it not bi-zenon? i have adaptive headlights.

At first i thought it was a marker/peanut bulb but couldnt find it. then i thought it was the inner bulb that turns on when i turn my steering wheel? but that seems to work so i don't know. i've only had this car for a year. today and some other days it does not show me that error. its really confusing.
