I posted this about 2 years ago and received some interesting responses. In your opinion, what is the biggest ripoff option available on the E60?? I think that the award should go to Anthracite headliner. I ordered my car with a natural brown interior and bamboo trim. What color blind idiot made the decision to use a light gray headliner with that combination?? There is absolutely nothing else gray anywhere in the interior. IMO, they are just trying to milk me and whomever else bought it out of another $500. I also understand that in Canada and some other places the anthracite color is standard. What's your favorite??

With the grey headliner, I think someone was thinking the car would feel more spacious. My wife's ML320 has the same thing, black interior and then a light grey headliner.

Biggest ripoff? Paid stereo upgrade (in Europe, the stock system is utterly useless)
the notion that shadowline trim is an "upgrade". I prefer its looks, but on other cars (e90), the chrome trim is reserved for the higher end models. In our case, we get to pay for the black trim in the sports package.
options upgrades..... there all too expensive ,but nescesary to make a great car ,they should all be bundled in a fix price system.like the visbility comfort etc.
while we pay they will charge higher and higher prices, and every new model loses something so you have to add it back.eg dipping mirrors ...now you see them now you dont!
the hard thing is knowing whats missing, what they havnt quite included. usb?mp3?interior lights, puddle lights, folding mirrors.to name some.
try working out what lights your gonna get, xenon, adaptive, assisted dip.
and what a minefield for the new bmw owner .he will never be happy forgetting something he thought was included.but cant add as its a factory option.
i have often thought we should petition bmw to fit an universal all option wiring loom ,that would atleast go someway to correcting errors in orders, and they would see a leap in after purchase upgrades to make the dealers happy fitting extras.
the biggest example is aux input upgrade.
a ?5.00 lead cost to fit dash strip and reprogram.?150.
