I have a 2007 530 xi and am running this setup
VMR 19x8.5? Front ET 40 ? Kumho SPT 245/35/19
VMR 19x9.5? Rear ET45 ? Kumho SPT 275/30/19
From my opinion, this setup would be better for a 3 series or a lowered 5 series (which I'm not doing)I feel that the tires are too thin and for the wheel gap and big body of my xi, I would rather get a bigger tire. Can someone give experience or advice for a bigger tire size.I now know the big mistake of having summer tires in winter. I live in Kansas and was sliding like a credit card!! It was pretty embarrasing for neighbors to see my all wheel drive slide into a pile of snow with only a little bit of ice on the floor(no damage). all advice will be appreciated

I have the same setup with VMR's and yes i agree with you after seeing them on my car, tyres look too thin. I noticed at the dealers tho they had an M5 with 19's and it basically just had higher profile tyres so you get a lot more tyre wall showing. Had i have known this at the time id have specs same size tyres as the M5. Maybe worth checking out and see what you think. Will affect rolling ratio a lot more tho!

Ya sbriggs, the tire size feels too dainty on my setup. Hopefuly someone on here can share advice though experience of changing up. Also how do you read the size... 245/35/19

You can run 255 front and 285 rear with minimal issues, if you lower the vehicle...you'll have to trim/roll fenders a little bit as IIRC this setup works fine even lowered on the M5 (because it has thinner fender liners).

You can go 285/30/19 on the rear which will be a perfect match w/ the front using 245/35/19.
I think the way you read 245/35/19 = 245 mm of width and the sidewall height is 35% of the tire width and it's for 19" wheel diameter.
Changing tire size on our kind of car must be done carefully if the the front & rear out of whack it'll trip the AWD/xDrive sensor and could damage the drivetrain.
Use http://www.1010tires...ecalculator.asp to calculate other size(s) based on the OEM size.
If you go any wider and/or taller up front you could run into rubbing problem on the inside and/or the fender.
How do you drive it? Even w/ AWD you have to adjust the driving style, I live in NE and we got more snow than KS and I'm on OEM tires on winter ever since I got the car more than 4 yrs ago and will probably go w/ snow tires in the future but so far I have no problem.
