It costs me around ?75 ($155 USD) for ONE TANK OF FUEL in my 535d. That lasts me about 460 miles. My wife's X5 takes ?85 ($180 USD) for one tank of fuel and does around 400 miles.

One cannot have performance/power with good mpg

Check out the Tesla....Not the cheapest car in the world, but it offers ridiculous performance given the mpg.

In Europe, we pay almost $2 USD per liter which means your 1 Gallon would cost here almost $8 USD.

You know what? Sell your bimmer, send me the money and walk
Move to US, Buy a Bimmer ,
Enjoy our Gas, save some money,
give me the money, Go back....

I think the main point is about efficiency (mpg/power), and by that definition, we've come a long way. Luxury/Performance automakers tend to focus more on increasing performance while maintaining the set minimum mpg. The I6 engine is a perfect example. If one wants an increase in mpg and performance is not on the wishlist, a Prius or electric/hybrid is a better choice.
Thanks, I forget this forum is international, not just US.

And I'm afraid that the other international owners blew this discussion out of proportion, & your comment brought it back to what I meant for here in the US.

Sorry for the confusion to all!!
