I've decided to get 21inch rims from my BMW Dealer for January... I know there gona rip me off but I want the job done right and dont want my warranty to be affected. My budget is $5000 Canadian, and I looked at websites but they dont help without seeing the rims on actualy 5 series. Can anyone give me suggestions on the best rims and tires that are good quality and look sweet. Looking for big lips too :)
And put pictures of you 21inch rimss :) Also what companys are the best? I remember some one saying HRE's ..
Heres the car right now, I like these wheels but there is too much a gap between the tire and body.

Changing to 20's, 21's whatever is not going to reduce the gap. When you increase the wheel size you have to get tires with lower sidewalls to maintain the overall OEM diameter or you will have major rubbing issues, along with other problems.

If you want the gap reduced you need to lower the car with different springs.

Im not allowed to lower the car... I dont know why my parents just said no :(

The xi's sit higher than the i's. If you were going to change the wheels on it, you should have bought an i. I too was forced by dad to get the xi and not the i, but hell, he paid for it, it didn't matter to me. I do kinda regret not trying to persuade him to just go for the i and save 2 grand or so, because now I too have to deal with sticking with stock wheels, or if I want to change the wheels, I need special ones (spacers and whatnot) and then it's almost a given that I have to lower the car, which makes the x-drive pointless as it was designed to sit higher.

So you've got a real dilemma there. I dunno how the m tech kit would look while the car wasn't lowered, but I would get those before the wheels.

+1 ... bigger rims + extreme low profile tires = greater potential for damage from pot holed roads. If this car is leased your parents can always replace the original springs when it is time to return it to the dealer.

it dose not matter how big rims you got ther gap will stay the same.
If you have a bigger wheel to fit the gap then the car reading of your speedo will be wrong and you mite be speeding and you dont know it.
If you what the gap to be less you need to lower the car.

A member PM'ed me, since I was the resident XI expert on this site before changing cars. That said, here you go:

Why don't you guys get the XI Springs from H&R? They are made specifically for the xi models. Even if you go to 20's or 21's, you are still going to have that gap. In fact, the gap will look A LOT worse with a lower profile tire, so you are definitely going to want the Springs after you upgrade your wheels to a larger size. Just make sure you get the correct offsets of wheels for the XI, as standard RWD E60 wheels will NOT work on the XI.

Here is my old, 2007 530xi Sport that I modified pretty heavily, both aesthetically and performance wise. Notice how the gap is gone. Wheels are 19's.

21's are way too big....get 19's, like the ones C showed you above and save the extra $3000 for the drop and other goodies. If your parents won't let you drop it, then you will just look silly on 19's or more, riding up like an SUV! And you can't get a big lip on wheels for an xi....not possible.

Here's my old xi on a 19" rim, like C's...right after the install (just wanted to see how bad it would look prior to drop). My other 3 wheels on the car were still the 17's in that pic, but you get the idea. And that jack in the picture was fully unloaded. :huh: Imagine what 21's would look like. :nono: And, btw....wheel changes don't affect the warranty in any way.

+1 for some springs. I know where youre coming from man. my parents said "no" too before but I still dropped my e60 and they love it. many styles of wheels to choose from. maybe your parents can help with what style of wheels. mine helped with my choice with my IFORGED wheels. custom offsets available too :)
