Good discussion guys. Keep it going. I have always hated my reverse light visibility but never did anything about it.
I'm going to do some more 'learnen on the USA made Putco products for sure, but C_o_s_m_i_n do you have any other details in others posts that describes your approach a bit better?
Cheers!

Your very best CREE flashlights put out about 240 lumens and it's difficult to look straight at them.

The blinding light does not mean it lights enough the way. This is a LED particularity: more blinding than real lighting.
You can see in my photo the difference between stock 15w stock bulb and the ~900 lumen light from the 10 LED i used. The 240 lumen LED doesn't worth the effort.
Ah, cree LED is something else. Not an ordinary LED like those. Plus you need a heatsink for that much power from a LED.
NoQuarter , what information do you need?![Smile](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/smile.gif)
I used 10 piece 5mm LED, in each lamp. Not the normal LED but 100000 mcd (~90 lumen) each.
I have some closer photo at home. If you're interested, i'll post one.

Each light has a minimum lumen count of: 53. (90000 mcd plus 50% viewing angle)
So 53 x 5 = 265 lumens vs Putco's 240 lumens using 3x Nichia LED modules.
I don't see any mention of the LED mfg'r in this listing.
I don't know, Putco's are plug and play, and these are ???; not sure.
Need pictures of how these 5 LED's look housed within the reverse light.

Sylvania 921, 264 lumens
Philips 921, 250 lumens
It appears the Putco LED produces about the same amount of light with the benefit of a white color.

Okay, you realize that this is not a plug and go replacement. How did you get 5 of those into the reverse light housing?
Each light has a minimum lumen count of: 53. (90000 mcd plus 50% viewing angle)
So 53 x 5 = 265 lumens vs Putco's 240 lumens using 3x Nichia LED modules.

It's 10 LED in each lamp, not 5. I got 4 set from the link.
These are not plug & play. I'm an electronics engineer, so it wasn't difficult to build something with them.
Why did I bother to post the link if you see something else?
The manufacturer says Min: 90,000mcd Max: 130,000 mcd, DC Forward Current: 100mA, Viewing Angle: 60 degree.
I do not understand why you only remember the minimum.
They are NOT running at minimum power. In my lamp they get 130mA (it's safe until ~150mA for a short time).
You can imagine i get more than 100000 mcd out of them.
So... 100 cd at a viewing angle of 60 degree how much lumen puts out??
It seems to me it's more than 85lm each LED.
85 X 10 = 850 lumen vs Putco's 240 lumens using 3x Nichia LED modules.
You buy those Putco's if you like them. For me, my lamp is way much better.
