Best Reverse Bulb Option
What is the best option for reverse light bulbs? I am looking to upgrade to L.E.D., but cant find any posts.
I am not interested in upgrading to HID. Any opinions? |
My understanding is that while the LED bulb appears bright, it doesn't illuminate anything really.

10pcs 0.5W 90lm white LED in each lamp. :)
In the picture, the passenger side lamp has the stock bulb, for comparison. |

Why not Putco 230194W-360 LED?
Same price range and I'd think 360 degree bulbs would be better, no? |

Their made in the USA, single LED module products, use a super high quality Nichia LED module. I would call Putco and ask them for actual lumen output by product type. Your brightest (and most expensive), CREE flashlights, have only one LED module, whereas the cheap, Home Depot, flashlights, contain 10, 20, etc LED modules. In general, the more LED modules = lower quality, lower lumen count, lower price. Putco is the best LED mfg'r outside of BMW's LED interior light kit. I use Putco (made in the USA product lines) over everything else out there. Putco also competes with the hundreds of Chinese Co's putting out BMW LED light kits, but these are the products NOT made in the USA. |
Thanks guys, very interesting indeed :)

Those Putco LED's put off 100 lumen . :) Really nothing for a reverse light.
The LED's i used in my reverse lamps also use a 3.3 ohm resistor / each LED. 10 LED's/ each lamp... put off about 900 lumens. And there's room for more light. _______ My point. :) |
