There is a limited number of 19 inch tires available. On the other hand, you will locate perhaps hundreds of 18 inch tires. Additionally, high quality 19 inch tires sell for about $100 (per tire) more than 18s.
Do what you want. Spend what you want. Just do your homework first.

I run OEM 172 19" alloys with the recommended Continental ContiSportContact 245/35/19 on the front and 275/30/19 on the rears. The cost of 1 rear tyre, (based on 1 GBP = 1.64 USD), is around $546! Fronts would be around $472 per tyre. That's around $2,036 for all corners of just rubber - no alloy! And those price's I've quoted is from KwikFit, not BMW! Expect to pay lots more at BMW direct!

WSP Italy produce good quality replicas of the 19" OEM 172M rims with OEM offsets ,i.e. 18mm front and 32mm rear. They also do the 19" OEM 167M as fitted to the M5 and M6 with more aggressive offsets ,i.e. 16mm front and 20 mm rear.

I'm gonna put a vote in for the forgestar f14's. But seriously dude you gotta search, there are tons of different wheels that our vendors offer for that price range, and wheels are such a personal choice. You may want to contact Michael and acute performance (forum vendor) he will be able to provide you with some great options and some of the best pricing and service around.
Thanks much..checking it out

Can anyone say what is the best non OEM RIMs out there? I am looking at changing the stock 16" on my E60 and want to upgrade to 19", but can't decide which manufacturer i should buy from (my assumption here is that the BMW 19" is outside my budget!). I have the basic 525i 2005. I am looking to add the M-Tech kit along with the rims to give the car some spice. My budget is between < US$1,500 for the RIMS. Any thoughts?

I can tell you what NOT to buy. Vortex. Bought a set of M5 replicas from Vortex Tuning. I gave them a quick visual inspection when they showed up and stored them until about six weeks. None of the four are round. I've been as nice as possible with them but they never reply to emails or voicemails and don't want to do much to help. I'm still screwing around with them, but I'm pretty put off with them overall. Steer clear.
