If it is not with the same capacity (Amps) as the original was then the sw must be re-coded. Another option is that the "famous" battery negative lead (with IBS Intelligent Battery Sensor) is not working right...

Also, I was looking at a battery for my 2004 and the battery listed for 2004 is much larger than the 2005 model. Not sure why this is, but if you somehow got a smaller battery, that could be an issue. The 2004 battery for the V-8 model is much harder to find.
Then, the charging system could be faulty, which is possible why you need a battery to begin with. It probably makes sense to take it into the dealer and have them update the s/w to let it know you have a new battery and check the connections/charging system.
Lastly, update your profile so we know what model car you have.

thanks for the suggestion fellas......... I have a 2004 530i the battery was brand new when installed, got it from bmw ($270.00) so I assume it was fully charge.
one thing the I notice yesterday morning was a squeaky noise coming from the steering wheel column every time I turn it.
one last thing do you guys think just because a left the cd changer cartridge out the glove compartment could be the reason the battery drained .
thanks for you time fellas.

Buying cheap shit and installing it wrong will ruin you fine BMW car.
If you don't really know what you are doing, go to the dealers, please.
That will save you a lot of money in the long run!
