Sorry I'm not familiar with an ICM in a BMW. It's not an ECU that's for sure. I don't believe it to be any module either. So, I have no idea what an ICM is with BMW. Hoepfully someone can enlighten me.
The ICM (electronic control module) is in the trunk under the spare wheel and if it gets wet it can malfunction or stop working all together......it can and should be relocated when you get a chance

Never heard of an ICM. This is an E60. I am pretty sure I know all the modules and ECU's on this car and it's sister chassis'
I would like someone to show me what info they have on it...and it doesn't count if it's not an E60, E90, E65

I was spelled it wrong, not the ICM but ISM. I'll post links in case someone else wants to know more about it.

I also ordered one cheap on ebay. I will see if this fixes it. It could still be the starter however.

Based on the diagram linked in the forums here...

It looks like my ISM has been relocated, or I don't know what I am looking at...

Just for clarification. If one had said ISM, I know what it is. If one would have said MPM i know what it is and it is located in the trunk. I would love to find an E60 that doesn't have the MPM already relocated. This was a well-known issue.
As for the ISM, go to the E-BOX.

Thank for you the lesson. There is no ICM in an E60. We cannot just start making up our own acronyms here. I think what you're referring to is the MPM since you mention this "ICM" behing under the spare wheel.
Just for clarification. If one had said ISM, I know what it is. If one would have said MPM i know what it is and it is located in the trunk. I would love to find an E60 that doesn't have the MPM already relocated. This was a well-known issue.
