So my car kept coming up with a battery draining warning after letting it sit over night. Brought it to the dealer to find the problem and they told me the Driver Side door keeps "waking" up looking for a signal to lock/unlock when the car is off. Therefore draining my battery by morning.
They are charging me 2 hours of labor for testing and another 2 hours of labor to disconnect the comfort access in that door for the time being. This will cost me about $500 in total.
The warranty expired so i do not wish to spend the money right now to fix it which would cost me about $1000 in total. $500 for labor and $500 for the part. SHHISSSHHH!!
Has anyone experienced this? And is disconnecting the comfort access something that i can do myself?

Just had my door handle replaced on my 06 550 for the very same reason under the CPO. That didn't fix the problem in total and had to have the CCC replace. That wasn't covered under CPO. Seems to be running like a champ now.

But for BMW to charge $1000 for CA as an optional feature and then make you pay $1000 to defeat it as a "fix" is totally outasight!
Besides, even after the warranry has expired there is an opportunity for BMW to make it right ... it's the "hidden" warranty for customer service issues - search the forum someone posted a BMWNA file with the details of how that works.

hello skeematics
I have the same problem with my car. car sleeps after couple minutes but wakes up again. and battery is done by the morning. I am onit to find the solution. trying to find a way to getrid of that function. i will update you or check my threads once i find the way around it. some say old battery might cause that as well

I would think there is some sort of electrical wire that connects to
the sensors in the handle. Finding and disconnecting it would test the dealer's theory.

how you doing bro. I am trying to fix the same problem without going to the dealer. try to find out which wire runs the sleep mode and we might find the solution to the problem. dealers think we are stupid ppl with money to burn.
