My 2006 530i battery has been slowly discharging. It was so bad that my car would hardly start. I just got it back from the dealer and they said that it was because I wasn't driving at least 15 miles at a time (so the battery didn't have enough time to charge). A few question for the group:

1. Does this sounds reasonable?
2. Are there any indicators in the dash/iDrive to tell me how much battery charge I have at the moment?
3. Are there any work-arounds, other than minimizing my power consumption (e.g., not using seat warmers) and trying to drive longer distances?

Thank you,
Erik

A couple of months ago I had the dealer run an energy diagnostic (I had to fight to have them do this for free) and they told me the result was "not driving enough". The energy diagnostic ,normally is not free under warranty if the "problem" is not direcly a car issue. Anyway, I do have a battery tender now, also I replaced my batter with one from Autozone and everything is good so far.

It gets worst during the cold winter months. The battery tender should do the trick.

Slightly off topic ...

Does anyone know how (or if) BMW will address this issue on the F10?

I encountered this slow drain of battery if I do not drive the car for 1 week or so and this is only happened after I changed new battery from authorised service center

Not until they make a hybrid.
