Have you tried resetting iDrive?

Eject your NAV disk, then hold down the CD eject button, the DVD eject button, and the volume knob for like 10-15 seconds.

I tried a few times to reboot it, with eject+eject+volume for 2-3 seconds and both discs came out.. You say 15s.. I should try, but I'm not so optimist.
I am thinking to ask a friend to lend me 5 minutes his battery (335d E91).
Maybe I could try disconnecting the battery for 1 min, but at this point I prefer to call the dealer tomorrow morning.

Ok, seems we have the answer: the dealer can try to do a new boot and fix it. If it won't restart, the solution appears to be replace the CCC.

But now the question is: why should the navigation system fry when the battery is low of charge?
And if the battery bought in June2008 is faulty... How AlexFW can be liable?

Will see - I'll keep you updated

My battery was at 40% and the car didn't start.
After the BMW Roadside Assist started it, the CCC was dead.

A new battery solved the problem.
Everything back to normal.

After a week or so in my garage, my 7-8 month battery had a dead cell. BMW replaced it, and now I use a trickle charger if I'm out of town for more than 3-4 days.

When getting a new battery, ask for a Gel-Battery.
They don't drain as fast as a regular battery.

Those high power batteries are available for the E60.
Color is black. Regular ones are white.

Do you have comfort access? I read somewhere that if you leave the key near the car when it is off, there is a drain on the battery and the solution was not to leave the comfort key near the car.

Yeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, no.

You need to eject both disks FIRST, then do the eject/eject/volume trick.

So the problem can be the alternator..? In your opinion, when all will be fixed, will the iDrive come back alive automatically?
It is not likely that the battery is bad but it's possible. If the alternator was not working, you would have been writing to tell us that you got stranded on the autostrada and had to call for a tow truck. Most certainly not the alternator if you've been able to drive...
No, if the iDrive is not working now, replacing something that is not broken would not fix the problem.

these cars are hillarious [sic]... it is like doing a secret handshake to fix things....
Yep. It's just a big computer. You're pressing different 'keys' to interact with the software.

Oh man. This place is amazing. Everyone is willing to give a response; for better or worse. Too many mechanics and not enough engineers!
This is a common problem.

Engineers designed this system. Then they tell me my 72K car has power limitations if it sets in the garage too much of the time.

And the whole "mission" of a forum such as this is to exchange ideas, opinions and experiences ... hopefully from the dolts as well as the engineers.
