Hi members!

I have a problem. Better, the car has it: there is a battery drain on the car, since some months (and imho the guilty is the Dension- maybe it is incorrectly installed, I don't know).
I had a vacation and the car remained in the garage for 2-3 weeks.
This morning (2 hrs ago) I turned on the car but... Idrive flashes and the car didn't turn on. I retried and, with strain, it turned on but iDrive was off.

I thought "Now I go on the motorway, then it will come back alive"... I drove 100 km, no problem turning on the engine but the iDrive is still off.

Any suggestion?

I wouldn't like to visit the dealer..

If I go there I bet someone would told me "You need a new iDrive, you have to change half car".

Yesterday I kept the key in for other reasons and the iDrive was working.
I'm sure it is a way to keep all the power available for the engine and this was the reason it detached the idrive as for the active steering. But now..?

Help guys, I'm seriously worried

I think it must be an error, a protection system or something, it's impossible that with battery off the iDrive fryes.

the idrive not working would not be to conserve power for the engine. your battery may drain, but the second your car fires up, your alternator is pushing 12-13 volts. i wish i had further input for you.

The battery was replaced in June2008.

So the problem can be the alternator..? In your opinion, when all will be fixed, will the iDrive come back alive automatically?

In this case I should drive for some hundreds kilometers and maybe it would be temporarily fixed.

Have you tried resetting iDrive?

Eject your NAV disk, then hold down the CD eject button, the DVD eject button, and the volume knob for like 10-15 seconds.

these cars are hillarious... it is like doing a secret handshake to fix things....

first you want to hit the cd eject button, then you need to turn on the right turn signal, then you need to tap the brake 3 times, then turn off the turn signal, then you need to to hit the voice activation and say "abracadabrah" and pull the e-brake. this will reset your AVG MPG.

that should solve your problem even though you just had your battery since june 08 since it sat for so long you may need to trickle charge it for a few days or just simply buy a new one
