Perhaps ???, they are questioning using a full charge which could fry some electronics versus using a charger with a 2A trickle charge?? Just a guess.
Surprisingly, my dealer uses the same charger I have to re-charge the batteries on the showroom floor.
It has a 100A quick start, 15A regular charge and a 2A trickle charge.

As far as I know, all the people I know including mechanics use trickle charger for charging automotive batteries. I am not sure why Bentley manual advises against that...
