bad lifters?!?!

I have that ticking noise for the first few minutes of driving. My son and I nicknamed it the "cement mixer" noise. I thought it was noisy Vanos???

Maybe I should have my car looked at before the warranty runs out?

i also wanted to know. is this problem only occur on 4.4L 545i? bc i have a early 06 model 530 and seem to be having this issue.

I think the bulleting only states for the 545 during certain production periods.. but it sounds like more people have the issue than just 545s

i got that same ticking noise in my 530i 05 when its cold does it sum morning and sumtimes it doesnt...i took it to the dealer said it was the lifters got them changed the other week got the car back and guess what..still hear that ticking noise when cold! soo took the car back there on monday been there all week still no solution! i just hope he changed all 24 lifters as he said he did ! but wot else can that ticking noise be and only when cold for like 15 mins! im starting to give up and its my first bmw ive bought and hmmmmm makes me wonder if it was worth all that money now.

I didn't get the new engine like Andy, but got new timining chain tensioner. After 8 month, the noise came back, though not as loud. I learned to live with it.
